A LOOK BACK AT APE 2006
Each year, an incredible number of events pop up in San Francisco
during the Alternative Press Expo. Most of them are parties or
gallery showings suited for the most sophisticated party animal
(or party ape, as the case may be). Since APE does not have its
own nighttime programming, we've compiled a list of some of the
associated events here as a service to exhibitors and attendees.
Please keep in mind that these are not official APE events, nor
does Comic-Con International take any responsibility for them-they
are just part of the incredibly vibrant arts scene occurring during
the APE weekend in San Francisco.
Most of these events are for adults, ages 21 and up.
FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2006
Eleven Bay Area cartoonists go APE$#!T this April at the Space 743 Gallery!
The artists will show works inspired by comics, ranging from paintings and
drawings to printmaking and mixed media. The show will display how the
aesthetic sensibilities of these local creators forged in the world of comics
carry into other media.
The show runs from April 7 to June 10, with an opening reception on
Friday night, with the artists in attendance. Artists include Andrice Arp, Scott
Campbell, Vanessa Davis, Justin Hall, Paul Madonna, Mats!?, Lark Pien,
Jesse Recklaw, Jeff Roysdon, Joe Sayers, and Hsiao-chen Tsai.
