Important Information Regarding Programs and Autographs at Comic-Con

All event and program rooms have limited capacity as set by the Fire Marshal. Even though your badge is needed to get into all events, it does not guarantee you access to any event if it has reached its capacity. We do not clear rooms between events. Most autograph signings are of a limited nature. Your badge does not guarantee autographs at any event.

2012 PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

The Comic-Con Member ID registration system is now open for returning professionals!

If you have attended Comic-Con in the past as a professional or trade professional, you were recently sent an e-mail with your own unique Temporary Member ID code. To sign-up for a professional Member ID, click the red button on the right and use the Temporary Member ID code in your letter and the e-mail address it was sent to.

If you wish to maintain your professional or trade professional status with Comic-Con, you must sign up for a Member ID using your temporary code by February 28, 2012. DO NOT SIGN-UP FOR A GENERAL COMIC-CON MEMBER ID. If you did not receive your Temporary Member ID e-mail, please click the red button to the right that says "Click Here to Sign-Up for a Member ID" and select the "Contact Us" button from the homepage.

Once you have signed up for a professional Member ID, you will be notified via e-mail when professional online registration opens later this year.

Remember, you must sign-up for a professional Comic-Con Member ID in order to be eligible to apply or register for a professional Comic-Con badge. You will not be able to submit an online professional application without a Member ID, even if you are always or already verified for 2012.

To sign-up for a professional Member ID, please visit http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg_memberid.php and click the red box on the right.

Guidelines for Professional Registration

Comic-Con International welcomes professionals and executives in the comic book, book publishing, animation, films, television, gaming, and related industries. (Related refers to those who produce material based on comic book, graphic novel, comic strip, animation, or fantasy/sci-fi properties).

Comic-Con's professional registration program has two badge categories, the creative professional badge and the trade professional badge.

The creative professional badge is a complimentary Comic-Con badge offered to professionals who take an active role in the creation, design, writing, editing, or production of comics, animation, films, books, videogames, or toys. Job titles might include writer, artist, penciller, inker, colorist, letterer, animator, designer, sculptor, editor, publisher, producer, actor, etc. This category includes retired career professionals from comics and related popular arts field. Creative professional status is also extended to those responsible for the content of websites that promote the historic or ongoing contribution of comics to art or society.

The trade professional badge is offered to agents, publicists, managers, executives, marketing, sales, business development, advertising, legal representatives, and other industry professionals who need to attend the convention for business reasons. Trade professional badges are available for purchase for those who do not qualify as a creative professional.

Creative professional and trade professional badges are limited, and not all applicants who meet the guidelines can be accommodated. Determination of professional status is ultimately at the discretion of Comic-Con. There will be no close date for professional or trade professional registration; professional registration will close when capacity is reached.

Guest Changes for 2012

Each verified and registered creative professional may request a complimentary Comic-Con badge for one companion, with the option to purchase up to two additional guest badges at the regular 4-day badge price of $175. Each registered trade professional may purchase up to two additional badges at the regular 4-day badge price of $175 each. Guest badges in each category are limited, and not all guests can be accommodated. Professional guest badges can be used to register an adult or junior guest (age 13 to 17). The badge price is the same whether the guest is a junior or an adult when purchased through professional registration. To receive the attendee junior badge pricing of $87, we recommend purchasing a general attendee junior badge. Click here for details about general attendee badges. Children under the age of 13 are free with a professional badge; they do not count toward your guest limit and must be registered onsite. Guest badges are limited. Once the limit is reached, no further guests can be registered, even if you have not registered a guest yet. Registered professionals are not guaranteed a guest badge.

Information on verification of qualifying job title, position, or type of work for professional registration

Your application must be entered online and verification materials mailed during the open professional registration for Comic-Con 2012.

For artists/creators of all kinds who create credited work:
• an original or a photocopy of the credits page
• a sample of the work
• a screen capture
• a printed out webpage, IMBD, MobyGames, etc. that clearly displays your name and title as an artist

For artists/creators who create uncredited work, and for professionals applying as executives:
Please submit two forms of verification that show your qualifying job title, position, or type of work and the company you work for. These may include a business card and employee badge, a printout of your company webpage listing you as a principal or executive of the company, or a letter from the company stating your name and your job title as an artist of some type or as a company executive. Please note that a paystub or employee badge alone is not sufficient verification unless job title is listed on the document. Freelance artists may submit a letter (on company letterhead) from a company stating they have completed freelance artwork for them that is not credited.

Unfortunately, professional status does not extend to support staff, including sales, marketing, accounting, managers, testers, analysts, administrative staff, IT, facilities, operations, and others who are not directly involved in the creative process.
