103: Working with Actors and a Crew, and the Tears of the Dragon Experience
Day 3 of our course on micro-budget movie-making features how to direct actors,
organize a crew, and keep them all happy without anybody making any money. The
second half of the class will follow up with the filmmakers of Tears of the
Dragon, covering how they completed their Lara Croft fan-film, from
screening to marketing to media coverage. Panelists for the class include noted
director of photography, Kyle DeVriendt, Tim Cunningham,
(writer/director of Xtracurricular,) Valerie Perez (producer and
star of Tears of the Dragon, a Lara Croft Fan Film,) Nick Murphy

In the year 3740, a scientist and his assistant land on planet Earth, looking
for a source of clean energy. Great location shooting and special effects
highlight this short film written, produced, and directed by Spanish filmmaker
Albert Arizza.

Set in the old west, a group of cowboys venture into the ancient land of the
Anasazi to search for lost cattle. What they find in the desert is far more
creepy and sinister. As the cattle reappear murdered and mutilated, the cowboys
find that they can't account for several hours each day. They see lights in the
sky and have a series of strange, otherworldly encounters. Finally, they are
forced to realize that they are the victims of alien abductions. Panelists
include Richard Harrah, director and co-writer; Betsy Sullenger,
producer; and actors Bill Bumiller, Dan Campbell, and Ed
Adams.
