Comics fans around the world have been buzzing about the big changes coming to
DC Comics in September. And while part of that big news has been the relaunch of
Justice League by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, there have been few pieces of art
revealing the JL line-up. Well, hang onto your hats ladies and gentlemen,
because here's the exclusive Jim Lee cover to this year's Comic-Con
International Souvenir Book! Jim pencilled this mind-blowing image just for the
attendees at SDCC 2011. It's inked by superstar inker Scott Williams and colored
by that master of the color palette, Alex Sinclair. And remember, the Souvenir
Book -- which is a massive 192 full-color pages once again -- is given free to every
attendee (while supplies last). You'll want to take this keepsake edition home
to save and savor again and again! Click on the small cover to get a BIGGER
view!
PLUS, the same art is featured on our Official CCI 2011 T-Shirt that you can buy at the show.

Comic-Con 2011 Special Themes and Anniversaries
SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2011 SOUVENIR BOOK ARE NOW CLOSED.
Each year, Comic-Con produces a special Souvenir Book that commemorates the
event. Last year's book, with an incredible Ivan Reis cover celebrating DC
Comics's 75th anniversary, was a huge, full-color trade paperback featuring bios
and photos of all of the guests, plus special articles and art built around
Comic-Con's themes and anniversary celebrations. Best of all, each year the
Souvenir Book is given free to all attendees (while supplies last), along with
the separate show schedule magazine, the Events Guide.
Anniversaries and Special Themes
Fantastic Four's 50th Anniversary
Fifty years ago Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Susan Storm, and Johnny Storm rode a
rocket to the stars, and the rest is history. Co-creators Stan Lee and Jack
Kirby jumpstarted the Marvel Age of Comics with the first issue of Fantastic
Four, and comics haven't been the same since.
50th Anniversary of Spy vs. Spy
Their battles are epic, their animosity legendary. Fifty years since its creation, Antonio Prohias's
Spy vs. Spy is still battling it out-without a word spoken-in the pages of MAD magazine.
Comic-Con special guest Peter Kuper has been continuing the war since 1997.
Comic Fandom's 50th Anniversary
There have been comic book fans since the first copy of Famous Funnies rolled
off the presses in 1933. But something happened in 1961: a coalescence of fans,
fanzines, and the rise of the Silver Age of Comics all combined to make comics
fandom a force. Comic-Con is proud to present some of the founders of fandom,
reuniting for this special celebration, including
Richard and Pat Lupoff,
Maggie Thompson,
Roy Thomas,
Richard Kyle, and historian
Bill Schelly.
20th Anniversary of Bone
Few comics series have captured the imaginations of readers young and old like Bone has.
First published in 1991 by creator Jeff Smith,
the award-winning (10 Eisner Awards, 11 Harvey Awards)
series has gone on to conquer the world in both Jeff's original black-and-white format and the
color series collected into separate volumes by Scholastic Press.
1986: The Year Comics Grew Up
No matter how you look at it, 1986 was a watershed year for comics. Watchmen,
Batman: The Dark Knight, and Maus all debuted, along with numerous other firsts
(Dark Horse Comics, the CBLDF, and Slave Labor Graphics, all premiered in 1986).
Twenty-five years later, 1986 still resonates in comics as the year the industry
took a major step forward.
25th Anniversary of Dark Horse Comics
Started in 1986 by publisher Mike Richardson, Dark Horse Comics has gone on to become a comics powerhouse,
with a line-up including Hellboy, Concrete, Sin City, Star Wars, Conan, Usagi Yojimbo, and many more.
Branching out into films and television and with a plethora of beautiful products,
Dark Horse has proven itself to be one of comics' top publishers over the past 25 years.
25th Anniversary of SLG Publishing
Dan Vado's Slave Labor Graphics (now known as SLG) has published hundreds of titles over
the past 25 years and discovered many of comics' top talents and most original characters,
including Johnny the Homicidal Maniac by Jhonen Vasquez, Milk and Cheese by Evan Dorkin,
Little Gloomy by Landry Walker and Eric Jones, and many more. Dan is also the founder of
APE, the Alternative Press Expo, and the San Jose Comics Festival.
25th Anniversary of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund
Started in 1986 to protect the First Amendment rights of comic book publishers, creators, and
retailers, the CBLDF has proven its worth to the industry time and time again over the past 25 years.
