COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL GRAPHIC NOVEL BOOK CLUBS!

Comic-Con Adds a Fifth Book Club in Encinitas!

Comic-Con International Graphic Novel Book Clubs

In 2014, Comic-Con International embarked on an ambitious program to create graphic novel book clubs in the San Diego Public Library system. Two of the clubs started that year (Downtown and Mission Valley), and two more were added in 2015 (La Jolla and North Park). Now in 2017, a fifth club is being added at the Encinitas Library, part of the San Diego County Library system. North County comics fans, you now have your own club!

We are currently accepting membership applications for this new group, which will be meeting once a month at the Encinitas Public Library, 540 Cornish Dr., Encinitas, CA 92024. You must fill out a membership application to be considered for this new club. You can download the official membership application by clicking here, but please keep in mind the following:

  • Members must be 18 years of age or older
  • Members must have a Comic-Con Member ID
  • Members are responsible for obtaining their own books for each monthly meeting, either in print or digital versions or borrowed from a local library
  • Members must live in the San Diego area

Please submit the application form to us at bookclub@comic-con.org by Friday, Feb. 24 for consideration of membership in the club. Membership is limited to 20 people. If accepted, you will receive a confirmation email from us with details on the first meeting.

Want to see what we’ve been reading? Over the past 3 years (2014–2016), the Graphic Novel Book Clubs have read over 75 books! Click here to download our complete Reading List, which lists all the books the various clubs have read over that time period.

Comic-Con International: San Diego is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.
