(Comic Relief), and James Sime ( Isotope) to find out what it takes to

Organized Fan Group—You are not alone! There are fans and friends with
similar interests in each and every town, and the Internet has made us more
aware of that than ever before. But how do you go about starting and organizing

12:30-1:30 Spotlight on Frank Miller—
Few creators have made as indelible an impact on popular culture as
Frank Miller. From his early rise to prominence at Marvel, through reenvisioning
Daredevil and Batman, to the current success of the creator-owned juggernaut Sin
City, Miller has cast a long shadow on comics, film, and the media world at
large. Now, as he reaches the quarter century mark of his career, Miller can
look back on a record of achievement unmatched by any of his peers in comics.
CBLDF executive director Charles Brownstein interviews Miller on his life
and times in comics and pop culture, reflecting on his accomplishments and
looking forward to the unconquered worlds ahead. Plus, there’ll be some CBLDF
surprises as well. If you’re a Frank Miller fan, this is the one panel you

Jim? Not as long as we remember it!— A panel of expert Treksperts examine
the current status of the Star Trek franchise. Will it rise like a

Dochterman (Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Special Edition DVD),
and moderator Mark A. Altman discuss their favorite franchise and

12:30-2:00 The Secret Origin of
Good Readers—Now celebrating its 5th year, this popular Comic-Con
International: San Diego panel is making its second Northern California
appearance at WonderCon. Dr. Robyn A. Hill (National University, San
Diego) and Mimi Cruz (Night Flight Comics, Salt Lake City) are joined on
the panel by Patricia Foster (Salt Lake County Senior Librarian) and a
Special Comics Industry Guest (TBA) to discuss how teachers, librarians, comics
retailers, and other comics industry professionals can work together to bring
comic books into classrooms and libraries for use as an innovative and
motivating cross-curricular teaching tool and bridge to literacy. Through a
multimedia presentation, personal remarks, and a question-and-answer session,
the panelist will present an overview of the medium and highlight specific ways
that comic books can and have been used to engage a variety of learners. The
panel’s 60+-page companion resource book, also titled The Secret Origin of
Good Readers, is available for free download at

2:00-3:00 New TV Series: Eureka—For
years, the government has been relocating the world’s geniuses (and their
families) to the bucolic Pacific Northwest town of Eureka, where daily life
straddles the line between unprecedented innovation and total chaos. U.S.
Marshall Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) finds this out firsthand when he wrecks
his car and becomes stranded in Eureka. After the town’s eccentric inhabitants
unleash a scientific creation still unknown to the outside world, Carter steps
in to restore order and consequently is let in on one of our country’s
best-kept secrets. Eureka is a SCI FI Channel original series written
and executive produced by Andrew Cosby and Jaime Paglia; it stars Colin
Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, and Debrah Farentino, among

Tutorials and Portfolio Review—eigoMANGA, the manga publishing
studio/company, brings the acclaimed editing and artists team that produced the
groundbreaking manga hits Rumble Pak and Sakura Pakk to
WonderCon. The team will demonstrate artistic and storytelling techniques on
creating professional-level manga. They will also review and critique manga

3:00-4:00 Broken Saints: The
DVD—Catch the world premiere screening of the new DVD release of Broken
Saints, the incredible, groundbreaking animated web series available this
summer from Fox Home Entertainment. Winner of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival
Audience Award for Online Animation, Broken Saints is a must-see for
comics and animation fans. This “graphic novel come to life” fuses anime-style
