"Duel On Utapau (General Grievous)"
Made & worn by Jinyo Hui, with Yuriy Platoshyn
Winner: Best in Show Award, Lucasfilm Award
WonderCon 2006 Masquerade
WonderCon's second annual Masquerade was featured as the main programming event
of Saturday night. A larger venue was provided and the audience grew to 1,000,
up from 600 in 2005. The 2006 show featured 27 entries, half of them being
themed groups, totaling 61 costumes crossing the stage.
The Master of Ceremonies was the always-entertaining artist & writer Phil Foglio
of Studio Foglio, and the trophy judges were CFQ Magazine publisher Mark Altman,
costuming book writer & publisher Dawn Devine, and the multi-faceted writer with
too many credits to list, Peter David. Live intermission entertainment was
provided by Mr. Erik Lobo of the syndicated TV show Cinema Insomnia, with
creative assistance from Ericson Yee.
In addition to trophies bestowed to the most impressive costumes, five companies
provided their own cash and merchandise prizes to entries that they selected.
WonderCon offers its sincere thanks to all the contestants in the show for the
many smiles and great fun they provided for the audience, and to the
professionals who donated their time as M.C., judges, award presenters, and
intermission entertainment.
