A LOOK BACK AT WONDERCON 2007
WonderCon's Third Annual Masquerade Wows Attendees!
The Masquerade Best in Show winner:
"Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn"
(Lego versions!), made and worn
by Mette Hedin & Bryan Little
Having outgrown its 1,000-seat room in 2006, the WonderCon Masquerade moved into
the 3,000-seat Esplanade Ballroom at Moscone South this year, with a larger
stage, more elaborate lighting and sound, plus video projection of the show onto
two giant screens. Twenty-three entries competed in the event this year, adding
up to forty-five costumes crossing the stage.
The Master of Ceremonies was once again talented writer/artist Phil Foglio of
Studio Foglio, and sitting on the judges panel was film producer, actress, and
costumer Valerie Perez, Gayley Carillo, Marketing Director for DC Comics, and
Stuart Shreck of DC Comics Direct Sales. Live entertainment during halftime
intermission was provided by sci-fi movie TV host Mr. Lobo of Cinema Insomnia,
assisted by his talented troupe of dancers, costumed monsters, and special
effects technicians.
A big thank you to the companies that generously donated prizes, to the
professionals who donated their time and talents as judges, Master of
Ceremonies, and halftime entertainment, and to the dedicated and talented
contestants who gave everyone an evening of fun, spectacle, and wonderful
costumes.
