Grants Manager

The Grants Manager plays a critical role in reaching development goals for the Comic-Con Museum through government grants as well as private and corporate foundation opportunities. With guidance from the Sr. Director of Advancement , the Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing the Museum’s Grants program and ensures alignment with the organization’s overall mission. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In-Office Responsibilities

  • Conduct the full range of activities required to research, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to private and public sources.  
  • Research grantor rules and regulations and develop policies, procedures and tools for compliant program implementation.  
  • Provide stewardship to grantors, including the tracking and reporting of progress using specific metrics. 
  • Work with the Development Team to align efforts and set goals. 
  • Work with Grants Committee to advance grant applications
  • Acknowledge grantors through public and private recognition. 
  • Work with Education and Exhibits Department Heads to develop and revise grant applications and ensure accurate tracking, data collection, and reporting   
  • Work with the Finance Department to ensure accurate financial reporting, funds administration, monitor expenditures, manage budgets, and track results
  • Work with the Database Manager to ensure accurate tracking and reporting in the database 
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and collaborate with Director of Advancement, Executive Dirctor, and Finance Director to fulfill IRS reporting requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Minimum of three years progressively responsible experience in Development with proven track record in grant writing and program development.  
  • Interest in popular culture, arts, and education with an ability to promote the mission, goals, and values of the organization.  
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. 
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • A high level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with fundraising databases, Microsoft Office programs, and Google.
  • ClickUp or other project management software knowledge preferred  
  • Ability to learn new company software as needed 
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision, and ability to problem-solve in complex situations
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor as well as demonstrate credibility, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment and follow directions, policies, and procedure
  • Ability to create timely reports that reflect grants and sponsorship compliance 
  • Ability to manage process, deadlines and budget while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization. 
  • Ability to get along with peers and management and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. 
  • Ability to learn new company software as needed

Working conditions

  • Office and occasional off-site functions. 
  • An office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
  • Flexible availability is required based on Museum Operation needs.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for the organization.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment. 

Physical requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions or tasks. 
  • Position may require frequent sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Moderate dexterity application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand eye coordination, etc.).
  • Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort including but not limited to, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, etc. of objects and materials of light weight (generally 25 pounds or less). 
  • Tasks require the ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of office equipment and/or materials that are appropriate with duties of the position.

Salary Range

66,560 to 70K
