Comic-Con Museum@Home Fun Book #32: Comics & Nature

In celebration of Earth Day, this edition of the Comic-Con Museum Fun Book looks at the ways comics and related pop culture media have been used to tell stories connected to nature and the environment.

Jackie Ormes’ “Torchy in ‘Heartbeats’” discussed environmental social justice. With Storm and Poison Ivy, Len Wein and Robert Kanigher gave us comics characters able to wield Earth’s elements and plants. Non-fiction graphic novels by Rachel Hope Allison and Joe Sacco observe our environmental impact on our planet’s oceans and lands, and each other.

These creators, their works, and more are featured in this month’s Cross Purpose crossword and Word Play word search, along with a “Classy Narwhal” drawing tutorial by Katie Cook and a new Comics Panels page you can use to draw a childhood memory of an outdoor walk or trip.
