Welcome to Comic-Con Museum@Home!

While Comic-Con 2020 has been cancelled (we’ll return in 2021!) and the Comic-Con Museum is currently closed along with the rest of the museums in Balboa Park, we want to welcome you to our newest endeavor: Comic-Con Museum@Home!

We have great plans for this new section of our website. This will be your main source for some amazing Comic-Con Museum content, such as exclusive videos—including past events (Sense of Wonder with Jen Bartel, The Art of Shag, Will Eisner Week), and new video content created exclusively for the Museum@Home program. Plus, we’re proud to introduce our exclusive “Fun Book” series, a regularly scheduled downloadable PDF featuring activity and coloring sheets created by the Comic-Con Museum for various age groups.

Complete the Word Play on food-related comics by creators like Lisa Hannawalt, Bryan Lee O’Malley, and the late Anthony Bourdain; follow along on this week’s You Can Draw with Katie Cook to learn how to draw adorable sushi; and for dessert, use our Cookie Cutter Templates to add pop culture to your holiday cookie boxes! Two New Comic-Con Museum@Home Panels
Comics & Tarot: The Art of Fortune and Fantasy • https://youtu.be/uWppv1toPAs

Tarot and comic books have long been intertwined. Comics creators have designed some astounding and mythical tarot decks; and the mythos behind tarot has seeped into some of our favorite books. Markeia McCarty (The Nerdist) speaks with creators Becky Cloonan (The King’s Story), Trungles (The Magic Fish), and Abigail Larson (The Dreaming) about what went into creating their decks and what tarot means to them. If you're a fan of comics, tarot, art, or looking to create a deck of your own, this is a panel you don’t want to miss.

Comic-Con Museum@Home Fun Book #23: Toys

While the popularity of specific toys changes over time, the thought of toys in general stirs up memories and feelings from our childhoods. Nothing demonstrates this phenomenon quite like Toy Story, the first fully-animated feature film released by Pixar Animation Studios in 1995. The movie built its world on the pop culture toys and references of years past, and has since influenced pop culture in return with new toys, adventures, friends, and now, a Fun Book! Get nostalgic over the 25-year-old film with our Cross Purpose crossword and Character Lineup activity, create your own “Little Green Men” with our provided cutouts, and test your knowledge on classic and current toys and toymakers!
