Press FAQ

The Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 press application period is now OPEN! Major changes to the press application and registration processes have been implemented for 2019. Please be sure to download and carefully read the "Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Press Guidelines" PDF by clicking here for detailed information about these changes.
The deadline to submit a "Press Outlet Application" is FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2019.

Click here to create your Comic-Con Member ID. A Member ID is free and available to all adults and juniors (ages 13 to 17) with a unique and valid email address.

Your Outlet Key Contact (OKC) must first submit the “Press Outlet Application” before the Friday, January 11, 2019 deadline to be considered. If your press outlet is approved, your OKC will be able to register you once press badge registration opens. Upon registration, your Comic-Con Member ID will change to a press member class. You do not need to sign up for a new Member ID if you already have one.

Press applications are now outlet-based, which means only ONE application per press outlet — instead of one application per individual press member. Your Outlet Key Contact (OKC) must submit the “Press Outlet Application” before the Friday, January 11, 2019 deadline to be considered. No, the OKC is the primary person responsible for facilitating communication between the press outlet and Comic-Con. There can only be one OKC per press outlet. However, an OKC may be the OKC for multiple press outlets.

To update or change the OKC of a press outlet, email pressreg@comic-con.org for assistance. The new OKC must have their own valid and confirmed Comic-Con Member ID.

No, Comic-Con is unable to accept any faxed or emailed applications and verification materials. Press applications must be submitted through the online “Press Outlet Application.” For the link to the press application, please review the "Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Press Guidelines" PDF by clicking here.

As a nonprofit organization, Comic-Con is able to provide a complimentary press badge(s) to press outlets that meet the published guidelines and provide information and examples of work to verify the legitimacy of the applying press outlet.

Press outlet verification will be valid for two consecutive years, unless earlier verification is requested by Comic-Con. Freelance press member verification will only be valid for the year they are approved.

A "Press Outlet Application" cannot be processed if your OKC does not provide verification materials. Simply listing press outlet information on the press application is not considered verification. Your OKC must submit qualifying verification materials to verify the legitimacy of the press outlet.

Please allow 5 - 8 weeks for processing and review. All press applications are processed in the order in which they are received. If the Outlet Key Contact (OKC) does not receive a response from Comic-Con within 5 - 8 weeks, please forward the “Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Press Outlet Application Submission Complete!” email to pressreg@comic-con.org

The OKC should contact pressreg@comic-con.org and forward the “Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Press Outlet Application Submission Complete!” email.
