003: Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians
The uniqueness of comics and their skillfully spaced drawings and text create a storytelling platform like no other. From hands-on workshops to discussions between industry professionals, our multi-day conference offers unique and established perspectives on how comics can help everyone, no matter their age.
Our Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians collaboration between Comic-Con and the San Diego Public Library is a FREE five-day access event. The conference will focus on exploring the role of comics in promoting education and literacy for all ages. Located at the downtown San Diego Central Library, at 330 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101, from July 20-24. Panels include the perspectives of educators, librarians, and publishers, discussing the latest trends and tools that can be utilized for the integration of comics into classrooms ranging from K–12 to college classrooms.

Wednesday, July 20: 4:00–6:00 PM
Teaching with Comics Workshop for Educators: A hands-on workshop showing how to enhance student comprehension through the introduction of comic books in the classroom. Motivate students with comics that resonate with their individual identities and interests.
Thursday, July 21: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Library Panels: Connect with the communities that help establish who you are as a library through the use of comics and their unique storytelling capabilities.
Friday, July 22: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Publisher Panels: Come along with us to learn about the current publishing trends as well as the best graphic novel recommendations for education.
Saturday, July 23: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Educator Panels: From kindergarten to seniors in high school, comics are an exciting and effective tool for all students no matter where they are in their K-12 journey.
Sunday, July 24: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Geek-Ed Panels: Geek out about higher education! From boosting college students socially and academically, comics and nerd culture are of greater value than most realize. Join us to learn more.
