This year Comic-Con International adds the Horton Grand Theatre as its new satellite programming room. The Horton Grand Theatre offers special panel presentations in a small, intimate, theatre atmosphere. Each panel is ticketed with extremely limited seating. There is no extra charge for these tickets.

The Horton Grand Theatre is located at 444 4th Ave., just a short 2-block walk from the Convention Center. It’s also on the shuttle route. See the map on page 10 of the Quick Guide for the location of the Horton Grand Theatre, and check the daily programming schedules for updates to the schedule of the panels appearing there.

Ticket Information

Entry to each Horton Grand Theatre panel requires a ticket for the corresponding panel. Drawings for panel entry tickets at the Horton Grand Theatre will be held at 9:00 am in the Autograph Area (upstairs in the Sails Pavilion) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each winner will receive entry for two. (Please note: there is limited disabled seating.) The tickets must be presented at the theatre to gain access. The Horton Grand Theatre has assigned seating. Please wear your Comic-Con 2014 badge also.

There will be a second drawing shortly following the 9:00 am drawing for “stand-by seating tickets.” The stand-by seating tickets are limited and do not guarantee you access to the panel.

Please be inside the Horton Grand Theatre no later than 15 minutes prior to the panel start time or you will forfeit your seat to stand-by seating ticket-holders.

12:00–1:00 The Smitten WordChristina Lauren (Sweet Filthy Boy), Kresley Cole (Dark Skye), and Alice Clayton (Rusty Nailed) turn up the temperature at SDCC with blush-inducing readings, smutty discussion and a hilarious battle over movies, TV shows, and Hollywood’s hottest geeks.

1:30–2:30 Science Fiction Author CosplayJohn Scalzi (Redshirts, Lock In) reads from his forthcoming near-future thriller, answers audience questions and maybe even serenades them on the ukulele(!).

3:00–4:00 OutlanderDiana Gabaldon (Outlander, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood) discusses her blockbuster bestselling novels, the highly anticipated STARZ original series, and reads from her 8th installment and #1 New York Times bestseller, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. With assistance from Ali T. Kokmen (Barnes & Noble/NOOK Media). 


3:30–5:30 Exclusive “Sneak Peek” Screening of the Showrunners Documentary Film—Described by The Hollywood Reporter as “an intriguing behind the scenes expose of the men and women responsible for TV’s recent revolution,” be one of the first to see Showrunners at an exclusive “sneak peek” event at this year’s Comic-Con! Showrunners is the first ever feature length documentary film to explore the fascinating world of U.S. television showrunners and the creative forces aligned around them. These people are responsible for creating, writing and overseeing every element of production on one of the United State’s biggest exports—television drama and comedy series. The film shows the huge amount of work that goes into making sure their favorite TV series airs on time as well as the many challenges that showrunners have to overcome to make sure a new series makes it onto the schedules at all! Featuring contributions from J.J. Abrams, Joss Whedon, Ronald D. Moore, Damon Lindelof, Bill Prady, Hart Hanson, Jane Espenson, Jonathan Nolan, and many more this screening is an unmissable event for any TV fan attending this year’s Comic-Con! The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and guests.

6:15–7:15 Adventure Time: A Totally Algebraic Dramatic Reading—After over two years of Adventure Time comic books, BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network continue to break new ground with the July debut of a new limited series, Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy. This marks the first time that one of the writers behind the animated show will write the Adventure Time comic! To mark the occasion, Kent Osborne, current head writer, has crafted a brand-new, original Adventure Time radio play that will tie into this new comic series, and for the first time anywhere, it will be performed live by voice actors from the show. Plus, learn more about the series and come prepared with all of your burning questions about the Land of Ooo!


12:00–1:00 Hercules All-StarsWhat makes each Hercules different? And which is your favorite? Witness a lively discussion with Q&A from a panel of your favorite Hercules actors including Lou Ferrigno (the first of the bodybuilders-turned-Hercules), John Hennigan (current WWE SuperStar, Hercules in The Asylum's Hercules feature), and Paul Teller (star of the "darkest" Hercules series). Surprise video tie-in with a fourth Hercules All-Star!

1:45–2:45 Nerdist Podcast Network Super PanelGet some audible chocolate in your audio peanut butter as hosts from your favorite Nerdist Podcast Network shows come together for a super podcast crossover.

3:30–4:30 The Wonderful World of "Weird Al" Yankovic—The legendary musical satirist, “Weird Al” Yankovic is here for a discussion and Q&A session on his amazing life and career and his new album, Mandatory Fun.
