Comic-Con 2017 Returning Registration FAQ
Professor Toucan here! With Comic-Con 2017 Returning Registration right around the corner, I have gathered a list of frequently asked questions. Hopefully the answers I provide below can help clear some things up for you, or just help you feel better prepared for the upcoming badge sale.
Q: How do I know if I’m eligible for Comic-Con 2017 Returning Registration?
A: Only Comic-Con 2016 paid attendees are eligible to participate in Comic-Con 2017 Returning Registration. Log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account and look in the top, right corner. If you see the green “OK CCI’17 Attendee Return Reg” flag in your Member ID account, you are able to participate!
Q: When will I receive my registration code and link to the Expo Logic waiting room?
A: About 24 hours prior to Returning Registration, you will receive an email with your unique registration code and a link to the Expo Logic waiting room. You will also be able to access your registration code and waiting room link via your Comic-Con Member ID account starting March 10, 2017.
Q: I hear badges are being mailed out differently this year. What’s that about?
A: Excellent question! This year, badges are being mailed to the attendee registered to that badge, as opposed to the buyer. You will not need to enter a mailing address during checkout. Let’s say that Mrs. Toucan purchased badges for herself, her sister Jules, and her BFF Michelle. Michelle’s badge will be sent to Michelle, Jules' badge will be sent to Jules, and Mrs. Toucan’s badge will be sent to her home address. All badges will be sent to the address on file in their Comic-Con Member ID account.
Q: What should I do if I forgot to change my mailing address before Returning Registration begins?
A: Because of our new shipping method, you have until May 18, 2017 to enter the correct mailing address into your Comic-Con Member ID account. The address we have on file for you on this date is where your badges will be delivered.
Q: I am an international attendee. Where will my badge be shipped?
A: We are unable to ship badges to an international address. International attendees may pick up their badge when they arrive onsite. Please visit www.comic-con.org/cci/badge-pickup for additional details. We will post badge pick-up hours and locations as we get closer to Comic-Con.
Q: Can I use my registration code and Expo Logic waiting room link again during Open Registration?
A: Definitely not. If you are eligible to participate in both Returning Registration and Open Registration, you will receive a different registration code and waiting room link prior to Open Registration. The code and link used during Returning Registration will not work after the sale.
Q: Can I share my registration code, or use it more than once?
A: That is a BIG no no! A registration code may be redeemed for one entry into the Expo Logic waiting room. If the code is used more than once, the most recent use will be considered active – causing prior sessions to expire. For example: Jules authorizes her registration code for entry to the waiting room and then shares her code with Michelle. When Michelle enters the same code, her browser session will become active and Jules will be removed from the waiting room upon the next refresh. If you share your code, you run the risk of being shut out! We strongly recommend against sharing registration codes!
Q: I am eligible for Returning Registration, but my friends and family aren’t. Can I purchase badges for them?
A: No. If you are eligible for Returning Registration and wish to purchase badges for friends/family, they must be eligible for Returning Registration as well.
Q: What time do I need to enter the Expo Logic waiting room? Is it 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST)?
A: The Expo Logic waiting room will open at 8:00 AM PST for registration code entry and badges will go on sale shortly after 9:00 AM PST. However, you do not need to arrive at 8:00 AM PST to participate! You have about 45 minutes to catch up on Legion! Arriving early to the waiting room does not give you an advantage. Save yourself the wait and arrive about 10 - 15 minutes before 9:00 AM PST.
That said, please keep in mind that the waiting room will close at 9:00 AM PST sharp. You must authorize your registration code prior to 9:00 AM PST to participate in Returning Registration.
Q: I am eligible for Returning Registration. As long as I get to the waiting room before 9:00 AM PST, am I guaranteed a badge?
A: Admittance to the Expo Logic waiting room does not guarantee you a badge, regardless of what time you enter the waiting room. There are more eligible members than badges available during Returning Registration.
When the badge sale begins at 9:00 AM PST, members will be randomly moved from the waiting room to a registration session. Not all members will be selected for a registration session. If you are unable to purchase a badge during Returning Registration, you will be able to participate in Open Registration at a later date.
Q: I am eligible for Returning Registration, and I’d like to get a badge for my daughter, age 7. Does she need a Comic-Con Member ID? Does she need to participate in Returning Registration?
A: Great news! Comic-Con is proud to offer complimentary badges to children age 12 and under with a paying adult! Just arrive onsite and head over to the Attendee Registration Area. You can also check out our Child Badge Policy for additional information.
Q: If I am able to purchase some of the badges I want during Returning Registration, will I be able to participate in Open Registration to try to buy the rest?
A: As long as you did not purchase a 4-Day badge with Preview Night during Returning Registration, you will be eligible to participate in Open Registration. This includes Preview Night upgrades. For example, if you are able to buy all four daily badges (Thursday through Sunday) during Returning Registration, you will be eligible to participate in Open Registration if you want to add Preview Night.
Remember, there are more eligible members than badges available in both sales. You are not guaranteed a badge purchase during either sale, regardless of when you enter the waiting room.
Q: When is Open Registration?
A: Open Registration will occur shortly after Returning Registration and Creative Professional Badge Registration are complete. We anticipate that Open Registration will launch in early-to-mid April.
Q: If I buy an attendee badge for Comic-Con 2017 but cannot attend, will I still qualify for Comic-Con 2018 Returning Registration?
A: Historically, attendees who purchased a badge for the previous year convention qualify for Returning Registration the following year. However, Comic-Con reserves the right to change eligibility requirements at any time, without notice. For more information, please review the Comic-Con Terms and Conditions.
