Comic-Con 2018 Souvenir Book Call for Submissions!
It’s that time of the year! Comic-Con just announced (right here on this website) our anniversary themes for this year’s Souvenir Book. You can read all about it by clicking on the link above, but below is a quick rundown of this year’s anniversaries. By absolute coincidence, four of our five anniversaries are what could be deemed horror or supernatural or science fiction. And to add to that, our deadline for submissions is (are you ready?): April 13, 2018. That’s right … Friday the 13th. Spooky, huh?
The Comic-Con International Souvenir Book is a keepsake full-color trade paperback given FREE to all attendees (while supplies last). The book features bios and photos of each year's special guests, plus articles and art created by fans and pros devoted to our anniversary celebrations. It also functions as a kind of "Yearbook" for the show, featuring Eisner Award winners from the past year and current nominees, Hall of Fame inductees, and tributes to those popular arts creators who have passed away in the previous year. (The 2017 Souvenir Book, shown at right, featured an exclusive cover by Bruce Timm, commemorating the 100th birthday of Jack “King” Kirby.)
This year’s anniversary celebrations include:
200 Years of Frankenstein
25th Anniversary of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy
25th Anniversary of Vertigo Comics
25th Anniversary of The X-Files
10th Anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Please note: Due to space limitations, not all submissions can be featured in the book. Submitting an article or a piece of art is not a guarantee that it will be used. We are accepting art and articles based only on the anniversaries listed above. Articles should be of an historical non-fiction nature (not fictional stories about the characters involved).
