Waiting Room 101
From Hall H’s notorious line to our virtual waiting room, it seems like we’re always making you wait … for something good! After all, the best things come to those who wait, and man do we think badges are something well worth waiting for.
We’ve put together information below that’ll help you remain calm, yet excited come the day of the badge sale. From our little walking person keeping you company in the waiting room to our status messages that both inform and entertain, we encourage you to read everything below, as well as our Open Registration FAQs page, so that you’re fully prepared for our badge sale on November 5.
Waiting Room Entry
The virtual waiting room will open at 8:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on November 5. Simply arrive at the Member ID Portal between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM PDT, and you will automatically be put into the waiting room without any additional steps needed. You will not need to log in to your Member ID yet! The badge sale will begin shortly after 9:00 AM PDT. If you’re selected for a registration session, you will be prompted to log in.
If you are already logged in to your Member ID account before the waiting room opens, click “Open Registration” from the top menu bar after 8:00 AM PDT on the day of the sale. Still a little confused? Check out our waiting room timeline below.
Any entry to the waiting room does not guarantee you a registration session. Not all members will be selected for a registration session.
What may be new to you is our little walking person! They’ll provide you with an estimated wait time, which may fluctuate depending on other registration sessions ahead of you. So sit back, grab a donut, and make friends with this little emotional support walking person, they’ll be there with you till the very end.
Our status messages provide you with tips on how to participate, some silly jokes that we hope you can share around the water cooler at work next week, and most importantly, badge inventory! As badges are purchased, the status messages will be updated with the current badge availability. Keep an eye out on this so that you can plan accordingly if you are granted a registration session.
For the best experience, we recommend using your laptop or desktop for Open Registration. Our badge registration system is not formatted for mobile devices, iPads, or tablets. Comic-Con is unable to guarantee that the registration system will behave as expected using a mobile device.
Power Saving Settings
To make sure your screen doesn’t go black and fall asleep while in the waiting room or registration process, make sure your computer's settings are updated to allow your screen to remain awake for an elongated amount of time. If for some reason you do get kicked out because your computer decided it’s nap time, don’t worry! All you have to do is log back in to your Member ID account, and you will rejoin the waiting room in the same spot you were in before.
One last thing … Please don’t try to cheat the system. We go to great lengths to deter scalpers, and our toleration for waiting room shenanigans is no different. If we detect that a participant has shared their waiting room information or URL, they will be removed from the registration queue and any transactions linked to it will be canceled immediately.
