Third Wave of WonderCon Guests Announced

WonderCon 2026 is delighted to welcome Mark Evanier, Sarah Gailey, Tini Howard, and Lee Marrs as Special Guests!

Mark Evanier

Mark Evanier attended his first San Diego Comic-Con in 1970 and has been to every one of these annual events ever since. He was then an assistant to the great Jack Kirby, whom he wrote about in his book Kirby, King of Comics. Mark has also written for live-action TV shows, animated TV shows (including various Garfield cartoons), and tons of comic books. The comics include working with Sergio Aragonés for 40 years on Groo the Wanderer, and many more. He is also a historian of comic books and animation.


Sarah Gailey

Sarah Gailey is a Hugo and British Fantasy Award–winning, bestselling author of speculative fiction, short stories, and essays. Their bestselling adult novel debut, Magic for Liars, was published by Tor Books in 2019. Their most recent novel, Just Like Home, and most recent original comic book series with BOOM! Studios, Know Your Station, are available now. Other comics they have written include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Steven Universe, Predator, and White Widow. Their work has been translated and published around the world.


Tini Howard

Comics writer Tini Howard was an architect of the 2019 Krakoan X-Men reboot with her books Excalibur, X of Swords, and X-CORP, and she has enjoyed long runs on Harley Quinn and Catwoman at DC Comics. She lives and writes in Los Angeles, where she has names for all of the local cats.


Lee Marrs portrait

As the first woman to work for both DC Comics and Marvel simultaneously, Lee Marrs was one of the founding mommies of Wimmen’s Comix. Lee’s art styles have ranged from illustrative (Heavy Metal magazine, Epic Illustrated, Star*Reach, Prince Valiant, Li’l Orphan Annie) to humorous (DC’s Plop, Weird Mystery, and House of Secrets). She is best known for her Pudge, Girl Blimp series, now out as a book with a blurb from Alison Bechdel and foreword by Gloria Steinem. An Emmy Award–winning art director, Lee ran an animation company for 28 years. She is an inductee to the 2026 Eisner Awards Hall of Fame.
