First Wave of WonderCon Guests Announced

WonderCon is delighted to announce the first group of special guests for 2024: Colleen Doran, Rachel Howzell Hall, Hugh Howey, Steve Orlando, and Marv Wolfman!

Colleen Doran

From her first work with Neil Gaiman on The Sandman, Colleen Doran has gone on to adapt his stories Troll Bridge, Snow Glass Apples, and Chivalry for graphic novels. Other works with Gaiman include American Gods, Norse Mythology, and the adaptation of Good Omens by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. She’s also worked with Alan Moore, Margaret Atwood, and Anne Rice and on graphic novels for The Doors, Blondie, Melissa Etheridge, and Tori Amos. Other credits include Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman. Along the way she has won two Eisner Awards and two Reubens, as well as Bram Stoker, Locus, Ringo, Excelsior, Rondo, and Tripwire awards. The exhibition “Colleen Doran Illustrates Neil Gaiman” is currently at Comic-Con Museum until April 30, 2024.

Rachel Howzell Hall

Rachel Howzell Hall is the author of 12 novels, including the bestselling thrillers What Never Happened, We Lie Here, and the multiple award-nominated These Toxic Things and And Now She’s Gone. A Los Angeles native, Rachel is a former member of the board of directors for Mystery Writers of America and was a featured writer on NPR’s acclaimed Crime in the City series and the National Endowment for the Arts weekly podcast.

Hugh Howey

Hugh Howey is the New York Times bestselling author of over 20 novels, including Wool, Beacon 23, Sand, and Machine Learning. His works have been translated into over 40 languages, and his novel Wool is the basis for Silo, the #1 hit drama on AppleTV. A show based on his novel Beacon 23 releases later this year. Eight years ago, Hugh took a break from writing to sail a catamaran around the world. He currently lives in New York City.

Steve Orlando

Best known for Midnighter, Batman/The Shadow, Wonder Woman, and Scarlet Witch, Steve Orlando is a GLAAD, Ringo, and Eisner Award–nominated writer and Harvey Award–winning editor and localizer. His comics work has appeared under the DC, Marvel, Image, Aftershock, IDW, BOOM!, and Ablaze banners. As a food writer, he’s written for Epicurious. Outside of comics as well, he’s written for Cartoon Network’s Ben 10. In 2021, he teamed with AMC and Shudder’s the Boulet Brothers to take over Heavy Metal magazine. In 2023, he launched Feeding Dangerously with award-winning chef and humanitarian Jose Andres at TKO Studios.

Marv Wolfman

Marv Wolfman is a multi-award-winning writer of comic books, animation, videogames, novels, and much more. Among Marv’s creations are Blade, Black Cat, Bullseye, Nova, Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Deathstroke, and dozens more. His miniseries Crisis on Infinite Earths created the concept of company crossovers. His novelization of the movie Superman Returns won the industry’s Scribe Award, and his 2012 videogame script for Epic Mickey-2 was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America Award. In 2011, Marv was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards Hall of Fame.
