Mel Marcelo (1969–2022) was a San Diego artist, designer, collector, and lifelong fan of comics, music, and popular culture. Throughout his career, he created hundreds of commemorative illustrations celebrating concerts, sporting events, and special appearances at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Mel Marcelo was known for his ability to blend bold design, storytelling, and cultural relevance into every piece he created. As Pechanga Arena celebrates its 60th Anniversary, this exhibition of Mel’s art reflects the venue’s ongoing commitment to preserving its legacy while creating opportunities to recognize and elevate the artists, storytellers, and creative voices that continue to enrich our community.
