In addition to the 15 names announced previously, Comic-Con is pleased to welcome Kelly Sue DeConnick, Javier Fernández, Paul Levitz, Belén Ortega, and Jeff Smith as Special Guests for 2026!

Kelly Sue DeConnick is best known for reinventing Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel at Marvel and for the Black Label standard-setting Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons at DC. Her independent comics Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly (both from Image) have ranked as New York Times bestsellers, and her current series, FML (Dark Horse Comics), debuted in 2024 and is nominated for the 2026 Best Continuing Series Eisner Award. DeConnick’s screen work includes stints on Captain Marvel and 2023’s The Marvels with Marvel Studios, in addition to having consulted on features for Skydance and ARRAY and developing television for NBCUniversal, Legendary Entertainment, Amazon Studios, and HBO Max.

Javier Fernández
Javier (Javi) Fernández is a comic book artist from Granada, Spain, best known for his interiorart and covers for DC Comics. He began working for Marvel Comics in 2011, on Captain America and then a series of Magneto issues in 2014. He has been a regular on such DC titles as Batman, Nightwing, Detective Comics, Justice League, Green Arrow, and many more. In 2021, Javier began working as lead artist on King Spawn, one of Todd McFarlane’s expanded Spawn Universe titles. In 2024 he returned to DC to take charge of the Batman and Robin series, and he is the main artist for DC’s current big crossover event DC K.O., also known as Crisis of Absolute Proportions.

Paul Levitz has been a comics fan (The Comic Reader), editor (Batman), writer (Legion of Super-Heroes), executive (decades at DC Comics, ending as president & publisher), historian (Will Eisner: Champion of the Graphic Novel) and now teacher of subjects related to comics and transmedia at Pace University and Columbia University. His 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking won an Eisner Award and international awards, and he has been inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards Hall of Fame. A new edition of his acclaimed collaboration with Keith Giffen, Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga, was published by DC in 2025.

Belén Ortega
Belén Ortega is a Spanish artist who made her American comics debut in 2019 with Marvel Comics, as both a cover and interior artist on Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, and more. In 2021, she began collaborating with DC Comics as an artist on Batman: Urban Legends and other Batman Universe books, and she continued to provide covers for such publishers as Marvel, Image, and BOOM! Studios. In 2024, she officially signed an exclusive contract with DC. Belén’s most recent work in the American market includes backup stories in the Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman miniseries. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with many brands, including Megadeth, Fortnite, FNAC, Joyería Suárez, Tezucomi Magazine, and Riot Games.

Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith is the writer and artist of such comics and graphic novels as BONE, RASL, TUKI, SHAZAM: The Monster Society of Evil and Little Mouse Gets Ready! Both BONE and RASL were self-published (Cartoon Books) and are New York Times bestsellers. BONE began the current YA graphic novel popularity explosion by launching Scholastic Books’ Graphix imprint, and it has won 52 national and international awards, including 11 Eisner Awards and 11 Harvey Awards, and has been published in 33 countries. CXC, the Columbus comics festival co-founded by Jeff, Vijaya Iyer, and Lucy Caswell, celebrated its 12th year in April. Jeff continues to work on Deluxe Library Editions of his catalog, with BONE Part Two: Phoney Strikes Back, shipping this year.
