Becoming Betty Boop Comic-Con Museum® and Fleischer Studios present Becoming Betty Boop, an exclusive exhibit showcasing the nearly 100-year history and evolution of the iconic cartoon character.

Collaboration(s)! A Journey with John Jennings This exhibit showcases collaborations of John Jennings, an Eisner Award–winning comic artist and author. He is the director of the Abrams ComicArts imprint Megascope and co-editor of the 2016 Eisner Award–winning collection The Blacker the Ink: Constructions of Black Identity in Comics and Sequential Art.

SHAPING WORLDS OF WONDER THROUGH MUSIC AND SOUND Into the Whoinverse Series Panel 2 Your favorite fantastic worlds in film and television are the product of not just visual effects, but the music and sounds that accompany them. In what ways can sound and music shape our perceptions of that which we see? Join us for an entertaining and educational discussion of the aural dimension of popular media, with a special emphasis on Doctor Who and its history of unique and innovative uses of music and sound.
BIGGER ON THE INSIDE: DOCTOR WHO GADGETS AND THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY Into the Whoinverse Series Panel 3 Doctor Who’s iconic inventions like the TARDIS and sonic screwdriver aren’t just science fiction, but potential glimpses into future technological possibilities. A panel of scientists and engineers will dive into amazing gadgets including psychic paper, universal translators, and perception filters, and their connection to real-world science. We’ll investigate how the show’s imaginative tech relates to current scientific research and explore how science fiction can inspire real innovation.

Mission and History The SAN DIEGO COMIC CONVENTION (Comic-Con International) is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation organized for charitable purposes and dedicated to creating the general public’s awareness of and appreciation for comics and related popular art forms.
Our Impact As the first new museum to open in San Diego’s historic Balboa Park in 27 years.

Our Neighborhood Balboa Park, a 1,200-acre urban park located adjacent to downtown San Diego.
The Federal Building The Federal Building, constructed in 1935, originally served as a hall to house U.S. Government Exhibits during the California Pacific International Exposition.
