In turn, the Comic-Con Museum is dedicated to the growth of our volunteers. We provide exclusive learning opportunities, including popular arts deep dives, administrative support, youth education, public speaking, and interpersonal skills development.

Community Collaborations
School in the Park
The Comic-Con Museum is proud to be a participating museum in the School in the Park education program which provides opportunities for students to learn in new stimulating environments in Balboa Park institutions. Through this program, students from the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego engage in a project-based game design curriculum created by the Comic-Con Museum Education Center.
Feeding San Diego
Thanks to support from the David C. Copley Foundation, Comic-Con Museum collaborated with Feeding San Diego, the county’s leading hunger-relief and food rescue organization, in an effort to rally local students around their mission to end hunger through food rescue.
We invited K-12 students across San Diego County to design their own hero character who helps end hunger through food rescue, the act of recovering surplus or imperfect food from food donors before it goes to waste.
The winning submissions, Hunger Halter and Demeter, were brought to life by cosplayer and costume designer Allan Lavigne and put on display at Comic-Con Museum during Comic-Con 2022.
Hunger Halter and Demeter now do the important work of championing efforts in the community to support those who need a little extra help with food assistance and celebrate those who take action and educate our community in the importance of food rescue.
