Important Information Regarding Programs and Autographs at Comic-Con
All event and program rooms have limited capacity as set by the Fire Marshal. Even though your badge
is needed to get into all events, it does not guarantee you access to any event if it has reached its
capacity. We do not clear rooms between events. Most autograph signings are of a limited nature.

The Selection Process
An independent panel of judges will carefully consider all entries and will
choose the items to be included on the final ballot. The judges may add or drop
categories at their discretion. The final ballot will go out to the comics
industry (publishers, creators, distributors, retailers) in May. The winners
will be announced in a ceremony at Comic-Con International: San Diego on the
evening of July 21, 2006. All winners will receive trophies and will be announced to
the national press. Runners-up will receive framable certificates.
Who Can Submit Entries
Publishers and creators are invited to submit entries. Note: A publisher can
submit a set of entries for each of its imprints or subdivisions. Creators
can submit materials for consideration if:
- their publisher is no longer in business;
- their publisher is unlikely to have participated in the nomination process;
- they have severed connections with the publisher or have similar
reasons for believing that their publisher is unlikely to consider nominating
them or their work.
Eligibility
Any comic, graphic novel/album, or comics-related periodical/book shipped to
retailers or bookstores between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005 is
eligible. Publications must not be more than 50 percent reprint material (except
in the graphic album-reprint category and the archival category); foreign
material reprinted for the first time in the United States is eligible.
Criterion
The primary criterion for submissions should be overall quality. Popularity and
sales should not figure into your selection of entries.
How To Submit Entries
One copy of each comic, album, book, or periodical you are nominating must be
provided for the judges to consider. Publishers may submit up to a maximum of
five items in any one category. For items entered in multiple categories, only
one copy need be submitted. (Sorry, entries cannot be returned. Nominated items
will be kept for display at the Comic-Con and will go into the awards archives;
the remaining items will be donated to the Comic-Con blood drive.) There are no
entry fees.
A cover letter must accompany your submissions packet, indicating what you are
submitting and in what categories. Be sure to include contact information,
including a mailing address and an e-mail address. The cover letter should
provide as much information as possible, including writer and artist credits for
stories and issues. Example:
