San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) welcomes press from all over the world to participate and cover WonderCon and Comic-Con. We consider applications from a diverse range of press outlets operating in fields such as comic books, book publishing, animation, film, television, gaming, and other popular arts-related industries.

  • Outlet Key Contacts of approved press outlets may now register for Comic-Con 2024 press badges.
  • Press badges registered by Monday, May 13 will be eligible for advance shipping.
  • Press members registered by Wednesday, July 10 will be included on the official Comic-Con 2024 press list

Follow us on Facebook, X, formerly Twitter, and Toucan – the official blog of Comic-Con and WonderCon – for the most up-to-date information.

  1. Log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account
  2. On the Press Outlet Dashboard, click the green “My Outlets” button to get to your “My Allotment” page.
  3. In the “Comic-Con 2024” section of your “My Allotment” page, your approved press badge allotment(s) will be displayed.
  4. To register yourself, click the yellow “Register” button and follow the instructions.
  5. To register member(s) of your outlet:
    • If you have their Member ID and Last Name, click the yellow “Register” button and follow the instructions.
    • If you DO NOT have their Member ID and Last Name, return to your “My Allotment” page and click the yellow “Copy URL” button. (This URL directs to your outlet’s dedicated registration portal.) Share this copied URL with your outlet member(s) to complete their press badge registration. Your member(s) will need their Member ID credentials and Press Title to complete the registration process.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Limit the sharing of your copied URL only to the members you have approved to attend Comic-Con 2024 on your outlet’s behalf. Press Badge Registration for your outlet will close once all allocated press badges have been registered. Again, this URL is exclusively for your outlet’s press badge registration.

Once you have successfully completed the press badge registration process you will receive an order receipt email within 24 hours. Please check your SPAM inbox if you do not receive the order receipt.

If you have completed your registration by Monday, May 13, 2024, your badge will be eligible for advance shipping. If eligible, your badge will be shipped to the “Primary Shipping Address” that is listed on your Member ID as of Monday, May 13, 2024.

Please note that we cannot ship to international addresses. If your “Primary Shipping Address” is outside of the United States, you must pick up your badge when you arrive on-site.

As the convention approaches, we will send out barcode confirmation emails. If you do not receive your badge in the mail, bring your barcode confirmation email and a valid photo ID to the Press Desk in the Sails Pavilion of the San Diego Convention Center to pick up your press badge. Badge pick-up hours will be listed on the barcode confirmation.

Press qualifications

We require that applying press outlets demonstrate a minimum of 18 months of continuous coverage. Freelance press members are required to provide an assignment letter from the outlet they wish to represent.

Press outlets are classified into five media types:

  1. Blog/Podcast
  2. Broadcast Media (television or radio)
  3. Digital Media (online)
  4. Documentary
  5. Print Media (newspaper or magazines)

Only one application per press outlet can be considered. The application must be submitted by the designated Outlet Key Contact (OKC), who will act as the primary liaison between the press outlet and SDCC. While there can be only one OKC per press outlet, it is permissible for an OKC to represent multiple outlets.

It’s important to note that individuals covering solely on social media platforms or community forums do not meet our criteria for press badges.
