HBO Presents the 2013 Comic-Con International Masquerade
The 39th annual Comic-Con Masquerade, sponsored by HBO, filled Ballroom 20 and most of the overflow rooms and Sails Pavilion, totaling a viewership of 7,000, on Saturday, July 20, 2013. The event featured 37 entries, with almost 100 costumes crossing the stage. Our Masters of Ceremonies were artist/writers Phil and Kaja Foglio of Studio Foglio, and our panel of judges included theme park show designer and former Broadway performer Diane Duncan, costume and effect designer Dragon Dronet of Hollywood’s Renegade Effects, Allison Leach, popular film and TV actress Nikki Griffin, and as workmanship judge the very experienced convention costumer Jeanne Clason. A very impressive giant light saber battle was the main feature at intermission, performed by the amazing Saber Guild.
