Films Announcement

In an effort to be more inclusive, Comic-Con’s Films department has made a concerted effort to improve accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences. This year, we are happy to announce the inclusion of a total of 30 films with available English subtitles to our lineup.

Just announced, Electric Dreams, directed by Steve Barron, and starring Lenny Von Dohlan, Virginia Madsen, and Maxwell Caufield will now also feature captions. The film will be screened at 9:30pm in Marriott Grand Ballroom 5.

Eisner Awards Tonight!

The 35th annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards ceremony will be held 8:00pm tonight in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton Bayfront. Doors will open for VIPs (nominees, sponsors, presenters) at 7:00 pm and for general audiences at 7:45 pm, and the ceremonies for 2022 works in 32 categories will get underway at 8:00 pm. Attendance is free to badge-holders. I.D. required only for the purchase of drinks at the No-host bars in the ballroom and the ballroom lobby. The ceremony runs until about 10:30 and will be followed by a VIP reception in the Indigo Ballroom foyer, with a live jazz duo for entertainment. Presenters include Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, The Guild) and  voice actors Maurice LaMarche (Brain in Pinky and the Brain). Sponsors for the Awards this year are Gentle Giant Studios, mycomicshop.com, and Pan-Universal Galactic Worldwide. Supporting sponsors are Alternate Reality Comics (Las Vegas), Atlantis Fantasyworld (Santa Cruz, CA), Diamond Comics Distributors, and Golden Apple Comic and Art Foundation (Los Angeles). The afterparty is sponsored by HarperAlley.

The Will Eisner Hall of Fame awards, hosted by Eisner Awards Administrator Jackie Estrada, will be presented on Friday morning in Room 28DE. Trophies will be presented for 15 judges’ choice inductees and 4 inductees chosen by voters. Other awards presented during this evening include the annual Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award, the nominees and winner of the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award, the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing Award, and the 19th Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing. The major sponsor for the Finger Award is DC Comics. Supporting sponsors are Heritage Auctions and Maggie Thompson.
